Just in case Jenny Macklin hasn't noticed - and her sensitivity is questionable in the circumstances - the natives in the Northern Territory are getting restless. And I just don't mean the blackfellas. Those whitefellas are too.
What doesn't seem to have occurred to FaHCSIA and Macklin is that when you are promising work to people living in remote Australia, it doesn't matter whether they are black or white, they get upset when you don't deliver. Because, you see, work - even of smaller value - means a lot to them.
People in Tennant Creek have been waiting since forever and want to sign contracts. People have plant and people on hold. And they are being treated like mushrooms: being kept in the dark but, in this case, not even receiving the usual bulldust.
