HANG YOUR HEAD AUSTRALIA IN SHAME: OUR FAILED PUBLIC POLICY ON HOUSING - #2

Helen lives at Marla Marla Camp
in Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory.

Tennant Creek has a number of town camps.
From memory, I think it is about eight.
This is in a mainstream town
whose population is just uder 4,000.

The Aboriginal population is about
50-60% of that.
Not all Aboriginal people live in camps.
Some live in housing in the town
Some live just like whitefellas.

When the Prime Minister speaks of social inclusion one wonders if he means people like Helen and her family. Because you see, there seems little of what would be necessary to incorporate Helen and her family into mainstream social, economic, cultural and political life coming in Tennant Creek or into the life of Helen and her family.

Thank you Jasmin and Kelly for
the Helen Limbiari and Frank Anderson
stories.

This blog does not take Anonymous comments. Experience shows that comments cluttered with "Anonymous" are boring and people don't know whether "Anonymous" is one person or many. This is not a decision about freedom of speech. It is a decision about boring or unwillingness to be known by even a pseudonym.
