Certainly, the powers that be watch with interest. The focus is very much shifting to Asia - away from Anglo and European cultures. <br /><br />My husband has been dead for twenty years, but he always watched China with interest. He believed that dominant cultures or empires moved, not only chronologically, but progressively in a circuit around the globe. He believed that it was China's turn next - and there is only the Pacific Ocean and a little more time between the decline of the American Empire and the rise of theChinese Empire, it would seem.<br /><br />My concerns about any empire are three:<br />1. Democracy<br />2. Rule of Law<br />3. Corruption<br /><br />There can be other things like culture. For instance, we are just - after more than 200 years - coming to grips with how this unique country functions.
